  • Aloha all you home chefs & seafood lovers — thank you to Debbie H for motivating me to get another ‘Fish Tails’ out to y’all, it’s certainly been a while … So yes, we are still running our Home Delivery Service, yes it hasn’t been a big focus of ours since things started to open up “post-pandemic”, yes we’re still asking for $100.00 minimum orders, and still adding in a measly $10.00 service fee. Mucho Mahalos to so many of you who haven’t forgotten about us, and hopefully “welcome back to da’ Aloha family” to the rest of you.
  • Copied below is a pretty close appoximation of the most recent ‘Tail’ that we sent out to food-service — — the attached price-list may not be so accurate, but we’ll get an updated version to our website at some point this week.

  • So, y’all know we feature ‘Bristol’s’ DRY-PACK SCALLOPS from Hokkaido, Japan, easily da’ very best, consistent Scallop available on the market. And y’all may know about the Japanese government starting to release water from it’s holding tanks in Fukushima, home of the tsunami-destroyed nuclear power plant from several years ago. To alleviate any potential concerns, here’s what you should know: 1) The treated & tested water that is being released meets Japanese requirements for safe drinking water. 2) The water being released will Not reach the area where the Scallps are, due to prevailing currents moving in the opposite direction from the Scallop beds. 3) The remaining trace element in the treated water is Tritium, at much lower levels than any threshholds set by any governments … … This release will occur over the next three decades, there will be continuous studies & reports, so check back with us in 10 or 15 years for further updates. ūüôā

  • Been a while, but it’s Easter week, Good Friday too, so here goes another ‘Tail’ —
  • Always popular on the Easter brunch buffet table is SALMON (choose from a few), Fresh DRY-PACK SCALLOPS, SMOK’D SALMON / LOX, and HALIBUT.
  • Not sure how updated the attached Price-List is, but there’s 3 species of HALIBUT available now, all with varying degrees of availability — AK/Northern, Local/CA, and SoCAL/Baja HALBARRAMUNDI is our “bass”, with some COVINA due in later this week.  Lotta’ Crab fishermen already putting their gear away for this year, so DUNG. CRABS are kinda’ hit-or-miss right now. Fresh D. CRABMEAT is available, though.
  • Heads up about a coupla’ items that have been pretty popular with the “home chef” crowd — Chile C-Bass Collars & Kanpachi Filet — we No Longer have these items, but offering a Heckuva Deal on Fzn HAMACHI FIL — $17.50 !!
  • There Will NOT be a Local Wild KING Salmon season this year, we probably won’t deal with Frozen Wild Salmon (never have), and we’ve never been impressed with “River-caught”/gill-netted King Sal — so maybe we’ll bring in some pricey Kings from CAN or AK, possibly another Wild species (SOCKEYE?), but those decisions are still a ways off — keep in mind that you can only get Farmed ‘BIG GLORY BAY’ NZ KING SAL from Aloha Seafood!

  • DUNGENESS CRABS — NorCal & Oregon now open, prices have¬†settled waaaay down, have at ’em!¬† Significant drop on CRABMEAT pricing, as well!
  • Pretty nice price drop on AHI POKE CUBES, too! And¬†FZN SKINLESS BLO (Blood-Line Out) AHI LOINS (2++, some would consider #1)¬†are a heckuva deal!
  • Waters in Tomales Bay have tested¬†clean — Pt. REYES OYSTERS are in stock again, (for the first time in 2023)!¬† Beausoleil still closed, but we’re offering other east-coast premiums: MALPEQUEs, BARACHOIS, PINK MOONs.
  • Seeing yet more price increases to Canadian ATLANTIC SALMON — global shortage of market-sized fish, no production from Pacific side of Canada (B.C.), so extra shipping costs to get Canadian Salmon from back east (hmmmm, that’s their “natural” home, anyway), and we don’t deal with Chilean Atl Sal.¬† ATL SAL are¬†now right about the same price as ‘LOCH DUART’ SALMON are, and nearly closing the gap with ‘BIG GLORY BAY’ NZ KING SAL.

  • Let’s get this one out of the way first — There will NOT be any Fresh Local Dungeness Crabs for Thanksgiving … and for that matter, probably NONE for X-Mas & New Year either. The decision-makers are going to meet again on Nov 23rd, but the feeling is that Calif & Oregon won’t open until 2023.¬†Again, there’s too many endangered whales that have the potential to get tangled in the gear … and yes, we’re still confused how “too many” and “endangered” can be in the same sentence.
  • DUNGENESS CrabMEAT is available, as are KING CRAB LEGS & CLAWS, plenty of SHRIMP/PRAWN options, SCALLOPS, CLAMS, MUSSELS, OYSTERS … and always an up-tick in Shucked OYSTERS (for turkey stuffing) this time of year — 10-oz Jars at $8.50.
